Which webcams work on a Mac? I took a walk into a local Target store and bought 6 models: Logitech Quickcam for Notebooks, Webcam C120, Webcam C200, Webcam C250 and the Microsoft LifeCam VX-700 and VX-5000 models. I also tried them on iBook G3, iBook G4, and on an Apple iMac. I also tried them under Tiger, Leopard, and Snow Leopard. I also test under 3 lighting conditions too. For comparison, I showed video samples from Apple’s external FireWire iSight camera as well as an internal iSight camera on an iMac.

I use Apple's 2003 iSight camera. You wouldn't believe how nice this thing is for its age. I still can't believe that many Windows users have issues with cheap mics and cameras. Usually, someone will have some intricate mic setup that's no better than if they just used an external iSight camera.

wow. the Microsoft LifeCam VX-5000 is good.
(so getting it.)

I am using Yosemite on my iMac. What webcam do you recommend. I have to tell you I was disappointed with the 930e because you can't use it in chat rooms because it does not override the built in isight camera. Please advise.
