This is the first modified Mac created by us which could be carried along. We have installed a logic-board of Macbook Air into the case of iBook G3 Clamshell. At the same time, the 800×600 LCD panel has also been replaced by one with 1024×768 resolution. It could be charged with a modified Yo Yo Adapter. And for the side panel, there is a 3.5mm stereo jet, an USB 2.0 jet and an ethernet port. As to the CD slot, it was removed and replaced by a SD slot. Finally, it is now equipped with latest Mac OSX Yosemite 10.10.3.

a pain to listen to

xXx_B33f4l0_xXx says:

Nice job! Great Idea if you want your g3 to stay alive and up to date… :P

But that's bullshit! You cannot change that we see, first of all, destroy a MacBook air running to convince us to put it into a plastic iBook? It is not technically possible a solution like the contacts are not identical housings are completely opposite. nice idea but it would not make sense for OS X we show in the video is edited? Bah

Vincent Brunet says:

No internal shots?

MusicHaven2012 says:

Nice Retro look to what's internally, a MacBook Air.
Great idea? Absolutely.

Kalvin Loc says:

I want to see +The iBookGuy do this!

Aiden Thomson (Formerly TheKungFuRobber) says:

That is an amazing project there, you must have had the new motherboard and cooling system custom made to fit the case. Good job!

David James Stephens says:

Erik this is awesome! I actually own an iBook g3 Clamshell and really wanted to have it upgraded, but wasn't sure if it was even possible. Is that something you do, or could do for me?!

Reisen007SCI says:

nice english lol

OutdoorSoHard_69 says:

This is really cool and all, but are you kidding me, $2700 USD for the modification alone, not including the cost of the Macbook air that is being modified, you've got to be joking, not even mentioning that you'll lose any form of apple warranty you'd have to be crazy to get this mod done.

zevin83 says:

800×600 resolution is my only complaint about it but otherwise that's awesome gadget.

Dafydd Ward says:

Pretty cool :D

ryan christian says:

Do you make these to order. I would love one.

Tawera Simpson Rangi says:

Imagine turning up to school/work/uni with this bad ass iBook. I be like, "BUT WAIT- THERES MORE!"

Yuki Adams (TakataruMC) says:

This is very awesome and creative 🙂 I have one question though, how did you get cooling on the it? Since the Clamshell had a slow processor it was passively cooled it was fine, but wouldn't an i5 get hot in there?

Jai Vaswani says:

Saw it on ebay
